Customs Clearance Process for IOSS-Registered Small Packages

If a Hungarian or European Union resident private individual makes a purchase from a third-country online store, the simplest way is for the buyer to pay the customs duties and VAT amount directly to the online store operator at the time of purchase.

By utilizing the EU's IOSS - OSS system, the online store can declare and pay the collected amounts in a consolidated manner, all in "one step."

The online store hands over (or arranges the handover of) the package to the third-country carrier. The carrier's responsibility is to organize the shipping process of IOSS-OSS declared packages to the customer, which includes customs clearance within the European Union.

In this high-volume, shipment-specific process that requires specialized expertise, we are able to provide efficient and fast services.

In 2021, based on European Union regulations, the Hungarian Customs Authority established an electronic platform for the mass customs clearance of packages. Access to this platform is possible only with the appropriate permits and software.

During customs clearance, the Customs Authority conducts physical inspections, for which the participant must select and present the packages designated for examination from the declared shipments.

As part of our comprehensive development, our company has built a Package Processing Center capable of sorting 3,000 to 5,000 units per hour and presenting them for customs clearance.

Our company group is capable of handling all tasks related to customs clearance, ensuring a seamless and high-level service from the EU entry point to the customer.
